Felt good

other than a minor pinched nerve in my back from work...it actually felt better on the run than beforehand... i felt great.  Feet were cold and hands were a little numb but I kept up a good pace and pushed my heart rate a little.

Keep it short... my back hurts, my knees were a little sore and my headphones kept disconnecting...but I finished.  oh, and I was on clariton all day for allergies.  That didn't help.

Ended up going to lunch with my new coworkers....pasta.  I thought I did good by ordering a steak and peper sub...but after logging my calories i was technically done eating for the day.  Figured I'd burn off some so I can have a glass of wine tonight...priorities.

Felt good today

I was a little stiff in the hamstrings but my back felt great during today's creek run.  My heart rate stayed down and it just felt good today.  Granted, I ate hardly anything and drank way too much out at Raphaels, but I woke up a couple pounds lighter and I still had some energy.  Now it's time for more chili, a shower and maybe a nap.

Has it been that long...

...guess it's been a while since I blogged.  Kelley has been waiting for me to blog for a couple of weeks so here it goes:

I added about 7 pounds since my last post.
I quit my job at Flexjet since my last post.
I got a new job with Texas Instruments since my last post.
My blood pressure has been dropping since my last post.
My stress has also been dropping since my last post.
I'm much happier since my last post.
I deal with less traffic since my last post.
I'm financially more stable since my last post.
I have not gone to Cleveland since my last post.


So, today was a brutal run.  My new job does require a lot of walking and an ass load of stairs to climb.  My feet, ankles and knees were extremely sore during the run....oh, because I'm too tired to hit delete a few times, my back is also very tight.  Anyway, enough bitching.  I'm glad I got out there and I'm glad my wonderful wife has bought me enough gadgets lately to motivate me to get outside.  Life is better since my last post.  Tim

Two days in a row

well I was able to get out there today for a run/walk.  Did an easy 3, pushing my heart rate to 185 then letting it recover to below 135.  The challenge wasn't the 185, but the 135.  So out of shape but it feels good to be in this much pain.  I'm looking forward to getting back in shape...not for anyone else but myself.  This truly is rock bottom for me with regards to my health.  The good news is there's no physical pain.  5 years ago I start training for my first half marathon.  Here we go again.

Another tough beginning

Spent this past week in Cleveland.  Looks like it's going to be my last trip for a while.  Ended up losing my promotion...or at least it's on hold pending the merge.  I think sooner or later it'll happen, but I'm not expecting it anytime soon.  Oh well, perhaps a little less stress.  So, go back in town last night and woke up for a run.  Oh, just bought a new bed for the back pains...should be delivered within 14 days.  Come on weight loss.

Kelley pushed us out for a post vacation detox run celebration sweaty almost killed me run.  Good stuff.  Decided to change our diet again.  I'm thinking cottage cheese and fruit in the  morning, alternating with oatmeal, with two snack yogurts each day.  We will see of course, since I'm supposed to be in Cleveland this week.  We just got back from Orlando, had such a good time with friends and family.

A fresh start

Kelley and I finally got our butts out of bed and worked out.  It's been about a month since we've ran and month(s) since I blogged.  It was just a bit over a mile and 9+ average pace but it felt good. Now we just need to get this built up into a routine.  It's been a wild month of overspending, overeating, over drinking and over indulging.  Work has been brutal tough and I've used that as a crutch to fuel my overage.  It's time to accept and power through the job as we did the run this morning.  I used my mask all last night, even though I woke up tossing and turning most of the night I do feel somewhat rested up.  So in case I'm reading this years from now, i was promoted to Director of Maintenance Control a couple weeks ago.  I've only been to Cleveland once since my promotion, but I go back up there the week I come back from watching Jacob play ball.  Ok, gotta shower...Kelley is making me a juice.

Tempo Run
Had a good run today...considering.  Went out with the guys from Cleveland last night, ended up with a flat tire on the tollway, then stayed the night at Mom's.  My amazing wife woke up early, packed my things and drove to give them to me.  She's my best friend...

So work was long and a struggle.  I gave an hour long presentation to the crew, helped Bill create a new org chart and got my tire replaced.

Weight is obviously up...need to really flush it out tomorrow.

Life couldn't be better..knowing my beautiful wife is by my side.  Like I said..she really saved my bacon today.

Today's run

Had way too much to drink last night...felt like crap this morning.  Still, got out for a short run and never did acquire any energy.  It's cloudy and real humid out there.  Time to rest up.  Tomorrow is supposed to be freezing cold...so this may be it for the week.

Getting there...

Ran 5 today with the group and felt pretty sore during the run.  My heart rate stayed down which was nice to see.  Work was absolutely brutal today with three in flight emergencies/diversions.  The day couldn't have gone any slower.  Thirty minutes of fun traffic and I was at the gym...for the 4th time this week.  

My weight is still going down.  I still haven't had a drink since Sunday, although Kelley came close to pushing me to have some mexican food tonight.

Life is going well.  Jacob is at his baseball game, he should be playing in...but injuries later he's watching from the dugout.  Katelyn I believe had a good swing camp tonight...

I'm going to get new shoes tomorrow.  It's time.  Tomorrow is rest and Saturday is going to be 10...maybe.

Long Day

Sitting here at work, trying to mentally prepare myself for a workout this evening.  I'm considering doing a spin class...but I forgot my biker shorts.  I may just sit on a bike and ride for an hour, to kill time and a few calories.  Tomorrow will probably be a 6 to 7 mile run at the club.  Hopefully I will be ready, I've been quite tired today.

Weight - down a pound or two.  No alcohol since Sunday, doing very well. 
Life - kids are still being kids, and Kelley is still in a weird funk.  She wasn't in the mood to talk to me today, too much on her mind. 
Running - not bad...getting better.  Garmin has redone their website for garmin connect.  Looing forward to the change.

30 more minutes till I get out of here....

Well, it turned out to be a pretty good night.  Started out punching an hour into the bike machine...20 minutes later I was pushing stop.  No big deal, and as I got off the bike my legs were all funny feeling.  Cool...so I got on the treadmill and walked for 20 minutes, ranging from 0 degrees to 15 degrees incline and around 3.0 mph.  I finished the last 20 minutes on the ellyptical giving me a total of 60 minutes of low pounding cardio.

Dinner comprised of a turkey burger (w/bread) and brussel sprouts.  Burger was very good, barbecue sauce and blue cheese and pieces of an onion..oh and sirracha.

Weight wasn't too bad after the workout...but before dinner.  We'll see in the morning.

Upper Body

This morning I realized I'm a month away from a Half Marathon.  My weight has to get down in order for me to be able to run it all.  Currently sitting at 214 lbs, perhaps it's too far lost and just finishing is a goal.  The longest I've run this year is 8 miles and within the next 3 weeks I need to be up to 14 miles.  Not possible without injury...we'll see.

Running:  I couldn't run tonight since I only had a day off since the 10k but I still hit the gym for weight training.  Worked on arms, lower back, chest and abs and after all that it's my arms that I'm having trouble with right now.  Tomorrow is the group run, wednesday's goal is spin class, then long group run on Thursday.  This will be an important week if I'm able to get through it all.

Work was a pain in the *** tonight...  enough said.

Family - doing well tonight.  Jacob has been benched due to an injury last week.  He's still complaining about being dizzy.  I just hope it's not related to improper nutrition.  Katelyn had another good day at school.  Long story short...I get home and everyone is happy.  Well, except for Kelley.  She's a tough cookie who can't seem to get in a better place.  Perhaps I should buy her a truck.

It's Time

It's time to get focused back in blogging and documenting my running, work and life again.  I was reminded of the blog this morning after someone commenting on a post I made a year ago.  Has it really been that long.  Perhaps this is some kind of therapy for me.  Who knows, I had a hell of a run with it almost 5 years ago.  As my running, weight and work are all struggling perhaps it's time I get back to writing.

Work - my company got bought out this past December.   I've been given a couple projects that's gotten me traveling to Cleveland twice already this year.

Weight - currently 215 or so.  I've tried lots of diets but none seem to really work.  I've been having a lot of work dinners and because Kelley has a job there hasn't been a whole lot of thought conserving money.  Eating out has been regular.

Life - happy with my home life.  My beautiful wife is the glue to our wonderful family.  Teenage son and almost a teenage daughter keep us busy.  Kelley is working up in Aubrey and I couldn't be happier to have some income support.  I only wish she was happier.

Running - I did join Lifetime Fitness and am participating with their run team. We are working on Rock N Roll Half training right now.  Because of it I am up to 17 miles a week.  Far from 2009, but it's something.  I enjoy the people in the club, runners are a very special breed of workers.

Here's to 2014.  And I pray this is a solid year for us all.  Here goes nothing.
