I failed to hit my watch after the warmup lap so I ended up losing about 4 miles in data. I joined up with Bobby, Archie and Johnny at a local high school and hit 8 miles in speed work...well they did 10. We did a warmup two miles at 9 min mile average, followed by 2 miles at 7:45, 2 miles at 7:30, 2 miles at 7:15, then my last two miles was around a 7:50 avg pace. All in all not too bad. I got a stomach bug yesterday which kept me in bed most of the day and certainly wasn't a hundred percent today. Not a bad run, good to see the guys. Thanks to Kelley for giving me that nudge.

Today's run was just a stretch after Sunday's 20 miler. Felt real sluggish the first mile, running it in 8:45. Second mile was much more relaxed at 8:15. Heart rate stayed rather low and my hip didn't seem to bother me. Thanks to the good stretching before hand. Well, I'm currently in the living room on the PS3 doing today's blog. The white background is killing my eyes....time for bed.

Getting in consistent runs this week. It's been a long time since I've done this well getting out the door. I plan on taking tomorrow off, a few miles on Saturday and a long run on Sunday. Not much to say about today run. My knees felt a little sore, my hip a little sore and I had no good music. Sounds like a terrible run doesn't it. A lot on my mind is keeping me from relaxing and enjoying myself. I feel I have so many other things to get done I'm feeling rushed.

A sluggish run this afternoon. Was it because of a fast finish yesterday or from three days of straight running. I do plan on taking tomorrow off especially if the weather holds up to whats projected, rain. During tonights run all I could think about was Cowtown and wanting to be in the best shape possible, a no stress scenario. To finish the marathon saying that was the absolute best I could do. I didn't have any right to say that in San Antonio...for good reasons though. Anyway, a slow run today, heart rate averaged just 154 with a max of 169. The course was just the normal 5 miler around Providence.

Todays 7 miler finished a little harder than I probably should have. Up until mile 5 I had averaged about an 8:10 pace. Mile 6 was a 7:57 and mile 7 was done in 7:20. It was pleasantly warm while the sun was going down. Here in a few weeks I'll have more time to get my run in...rather than rush home, change and go. I have 40 more days till my next Marathon. I feel I'm healthy enough now to run it now but hopefully I can get some really long runs in these upcoming weeks.

Today's run was a tough one because I'm feeling rather exhausted today. I had hoped for more miles today, however coming up to the third mile I just didn't have anything. So I decided to turn back and head home. I ended up going to the lake and knocked out two mile there. The temps are very nice and not much wind out there. This was a poor week squeezing in just 9 miles.

It was a pleasant 50 degrees this afternoon and compared to the last couple weeks it almost felt like summer. However, when the sun went down it started to get real cold. Today was a typical 5 miler around Providence. Not a whole lot to say other than my hip is feeling a whole lot better. I'm fairly certain I have figured out what happened. It was until recently I started following a stretch program. I honestly feel that the way I used to stretch my hip was putting too much of a strain on it and since changing stretches it's gotten better each day. I'd like to say today was pain free but after the other day's 17 miles my joints were stiff. It was hard to get a good stride. Today was a big confidence booster.

I had to wait until 1 this afternoon to get outside. It was 10F when we woke up this morning. Not knowing what I felt like doing when I reached the greenbelt I found myself getting to the 6 mile mark rather easily. So I decided to run a couple more miles before I turned back. At about mile 9 I started to get pain in my left foot, under the arch. It turned out to be a bad blister. So the last 8 miles was quite painful. The good news is the pain in my hip was either gone or masked by the pain in my foot. Probably take a couple days off.

It's a cold 24 degrees outside so I didn't event attempt running out there. Instead I hit the gym for a brutal 5 miles. Geez I hate running indoors. Anyway, not a whole lot to say other than it's over. I need to get in 24 miles before the end of the week. It better warm up.

Yesterday's 12 miler was through a muddy Greenbelt trail. Several flooded sections of the trail up to the 3 mile marker then it was pretty solid after that. Saw quite a few people considering the conditions of the trail. The weather was cool but with hardly any wind and nothing but sunshine. I listened to an audio book up to the rest area and some Zeppelin on the way back. Not much to comment on. My hip was really starting to tighten up but I was able to get a stretch in that seemed to make it feel better. It was the old Army stretch where you put your hands on your hips and rotate clockwise and counterclockwise. During the Army I never could figure out why we did this stretch...now I do. Every time I'd rotate to pull on my right hip I'd feel a small pop. Eventually it stopped popping and I was able to run pain free. Not sure what that means.

Happy New Year. It's a cold and sunny morning here in Dallas, a wonderful morning for a run. My pace was a bit faster that previous days probably due to the cold. My right hip started to tighten up the last mile or so. Not sure if there was any pain as my body was completely numb. I better go and warm up. That's two years in a row now I've started the year off with a run.
